One extremely intriguing possible solution to the frame problem is to be found in Dan Sperber and Deirdre Wilson's Relevance: Cognition and Communication (2nd ed., Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1995; 1st ed., Harvard UP, 1986), which was published too late to be considered in Dennett's essay.
